You can access free PPs for DRF’s daily featured race here. The following is my race analysis pre-scratches.
Belmont Park Race 8 Allowance NW1 3YO+ 6:45 EST Today’s feature has a field of ten going 11 furlongs on the inner turf course. This looks to be a competitive bunch! Upon first pass, only one toss, and that’s the 4 Thereisastormbrewin, entered from Rudy Rodriguez’s barn, who hasn’t run on grass in I don’t know how long. He did win his last time out, wiring a field of six at 8 furlongs. He should chop out the early fractions here as well, but this is a step up that the PPs suggest he won’t be able to handle. Morning line favorite 7 Easter finished fourth in a field of five last month in the Man o’ War at this same distance; I suppose today’s significant drop in class is why David Aragona has installed him as such. I’m going to let Prat and Motion beat me here, though; anything close to that morning line screams underlay to me, and there are others I like at a price. On top I have the 8 Trending. Out of Uncle Mo, this 3-year-old bay colt has the best inner turf course rider on the NYRA circuit in Jose Ortiz. He’s paired up 77 Beyers in his last two starts, and I expect him to take a step forward here today. The 5 Beauty Amazed makes his stateside debut for the Todd Pletcher barn. A new gelding, he’ll get Lasix for the first time today. Oh–and Johnny Velazquez is in the irons. Trainer Christophe Clement’s sole entry in the race is the 2 Q F Seventy Five, who sports a lifetime record of 7-1-1-3. (He completed the super in the two races where he didn’t hit the board.) The stretch out in distance shouldn’t be a problem for the horse or the renowned turf conditioner. Of the two Maker entries, I prefer the 9 Hilliard. A last time out winner on June 5th at Belmont going 8.5 furlongs, the bloodline suggests that the added distance should be no trouble.
The play: 8 across the board $6, straight trifecta 8/2,5,9/2,5,7,9 $6, straight exacta 2,5,9/8 $3
