How disappointing yesterday’s feature was with over half the field scratching. Today is a new day. Looking at graded stakes taking place today at Santa Anita and Gulfstream. You can put the races on your second screen while football is on.
GULFSTREAM PARK
Race 3 • 1:10 p.m. ET This is a solid field. While 4 Frank’s Rockette looks tough coming into this spot, I might look at the upward trend for 6 Coppelia if I were inclined to try and beat her.
Race 7 • 3:09 p.m. ET It’s a step up for 10 Lady Rockstar, but Irad won on her two back and he’s in the saddle again today. 1 Scottish Star is 1-for-3 in her last three efforts as the post time favorite.
Race 8 • 3:41 p.m. ET Plenty of early speed signed on here. I am upgrading runners coming from off the pace. 12 Seal Beach picks up Luis Saez in the irons today. A winner last time out at 5-1, I think he can be had at a price again today.
Race 9 • 4:10 p.m. ET All signs point to this being a prep for 12 Colonel Liam here as he gears up for the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational. I’ll use 1 Street Ready and 6 Kentucky Ghost to try and beat him.
Race 10 • 4:40 p.m. ET Jockey Luis Saez makes the jump from 4 Simplification to 8 Pioneer of Medina, a winner last time out at Churchill Downs.
SANTA ANITA
Race 1 • 3:00 p.m. ET Jockey Frankie Dettori is up on 8 Hit the Road, who puts blinkers on and is on the cutback. There is pace to run into here.
Race 3 • 4:00 p.m. ET No speed in this race. I’m going to favor those projected to be on the front end. How about 3 Burgoo Alley at an attractive price with Flavien Prat aboard?
Race 8 • 6:30 p.m. ET I like the favorite 2 Samurai Charm here, who comes in having won her last two. A jockey upgrade to Prat further excites me to bet this mare.
Best of luck!
