Happy Thanksgiving! Below is my analysis and picks for today’s feature, race 6 at Del Mar. Want to hear me argue with my sons for an hour over the entirety of today’s card? A new podcast episode is out on [Apple Podcasts] and [Spotify].
This race is a Grade 3 marathon going 11 furlongs on the turf. It looks competitive on paper with several contenders. 4, 6, 7, and 9 are all on top on my Formulator PP for the race. 7 Sister Otoole’s breeding suggests she wants all the distance, and her lifetime record of 4-1-1-0 at today’s conditions confirms. 6 Scarabea is 2-0-1-1 at today’s distance and surface and is in good form, though she’s been beaten by a couple in this field. She needs to be more forwardly placed today to flip the script. 9 Duvet Day is the most interesting entry here to me. Her only two lifetime wins have been at 11 furlongs on the grass, most recently back in July on this same track. 4 Dramatizer is in my thoughts due to jockey Mike Smith having piloted her to victory last time out. He stays in the irons today. I think she can outrun her odds. 5 Bellstreet Bridie is worth a peek on the odds board as she gets jockey Flavien Prat for today’s race. I’m just not totally sold that she or Dramatizer want the distance, and as such, I’ll take the horse with the longer odds if playing any horizontals.
PICKS: 6-7-4-9
Best of luck!
